If you click a link with an * to go through to a provider, we may get paid. This usually only happens if you get a product from it. This is what funds our team of journalists, and keeps us free to use. Yet there are two crucial things you need to know about this.
- This never impacts our editorial recommendations – if it's in, it's in there because we independently rate it best.
- You'll always get as good a deal (or better) than if you went direct.

Waterstones Black Friday deals on selected items
Incl 50% off popular titles. Online only. Not that impressive
ExpiredGo online to Waterstones* and you'll find discounts of up to 50% off selected items as part of its Black Friday sale, until 11.59pm on Tue 28 Nov. Delivery's £2.75, and the discount's only online, not in stores.
Waterstones told us there will also be 'huge discounts' across a range of bestsellers. Items included will be clearly marked and the discount applied automatically at the checkout, so there's no need for a code.
Examples of discounts we found at 12pm on Thu 23 Nov include (don't forget to add delivery):
- Jamie Oliver's 5 Ingredients - Quick & Easy recipe book* - £13 (was £26). Cheaper elsewhere, £10.99 at Amazon*.
- Origin, by Dan Brown* - £10 (was £20). We found this price-matched at Amazon and The Book Depository.
All in all, most of the items we found were either price-matched or cheaper elsewhere - so, as ever, it's worth doing your own price-comparisons before you buy.
Important: Don't allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don't need or can't afford. And always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don't just take a retailer's word for it.

Cheapest 'Harry Potter & Cursed Child' book
£10 at Tesco Direct, Amazon, Waterstones & more
ExpiredWith just over a week to go until Harry Potter & The Cursed Child: Parts 1 & 2 officially opens in London's West End, there's still time to pre-order a copy of the 350-page script book from the play by Jack Thorne (based on an original story by Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling).
It'll likely to be popular, so pre-ordering makes sense if you want to read it as soon as it's released (Sun 31 Jul - Harry's birthday). Prices range from £10-£20, so we've rounded up the cheapest places to get it below.
Cheapest places to pre-order the Cursed Child script book:
Tesco Direct* £10, free delivery. Plus, you can earn an extra 100 Clubcard points (worth £1 at Tesco, or up to £4 in vouchers and days out - see Clubcard Boost) until Mon 25 Jul.
Amazon* £10, free delivery. Or £9.99 for the Kindle Edition* (e-book).
Smyths Toys* £9.99, delivery £2.99 or collect from a store for free (find your nearest*).
Waterstones* £10, delivery £2.75 or collect from a store for free (find your nearest*).
WHSmith* £10, delivery £2.99 or collect from a store for free (find your nearest*).
When pre-ordering, items are usually delivered on - or just after, but rarely before - the release date. In this case, 31 Jul (though as that's a Sunday, you may have to wait an extra day).
