Inflation rose last month as rising petrol prices and less generous discounts from fashion retailers intensified pressure on households, the Office of National Statistics (ONS) has said.
The price of petrol and diesel has edged back up over the last month, with diesel drivers getting a worse deal than petrol users, according to figures from the AA.
Motorists will get a boost this weekend as Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco will cut both unleaded and diesel prices by up to 2p a litre from tomorrow.
