Some iPhone 5 users have been left feeling short-changed after realising their mobile won't work on 4G with O2 and Vodafone.

Consumers could find it even easier to switch broadband and home phone supplier in future, under new measures announced by regulator Ofcom.

Mobile giant Vodafone will launch its superfast 4G service on 29 August, with tariffs starting from £26/month including either Sky Sports or Spotify Premium free for six months. But it won't be available on the iPhone 5.

Many TalkTalk and Plusnet home phone and broadband customers will be hit by prices rises from 1 October.

O2 will launch its 4G network in London, Leeds and Bradford from 29 August – but customers won't be able to use iPhone 5s with the new network.

Nearly 20 million Vodafone pay-as-you-go customers are paying more for phone calls from today, as the mobile giant has begun charging users per minute, rather than per second for calls.

Two regulators are to look into the work of the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) to see if it is doing its job of protecting consumers from nuisance phone calls.
