A few of this week's top threads

These are some of the Forum discussions that caught our eye this week:

Money Moral Dilemma

Every week, the Money Tips email features a real-life Money Moral Dilemma (MMD for short). They're intended to encourage debate and, as such, they're usually among the most discussed threads each week.

Should we offer to pay towards my in-laws' flights from Australia?

Each summer, my retired in-laws come over from Australia to spend a couple of months with our two sons while they're on school holidays. As we put them up the whole time, we don't have to pay for any childcare or summer camps. In previous years, we've also paid for their flights, but we really can't afford to this year. Should we tell them that and hope they'll pay for themselves, or offer to pay at least something towards their flights given what we'll save on childcare if they do come?

See what our MSE Forumites had to say and add your own thoughts on the Money Moral Dilemma discussion thread. Do please stick to the MSE Forum rules: keep it kind and keep it clean. Remember, there's a real person behind every dilemma.

Photo of the week

This week the_lunatic_is_in_my_head shared some stunning snaps from a recent walk in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), including this one:

Latest comping wins

It was World Book Day on Thursday, so the perfect time for redfox5 to post a photo of their haul of books purchased with a £50 book token they'd won in a recent competition. Meanwhile LizB62 is celebrating a great win: a top-of-the-range Google Pixel 9 Pro phone.

Check the Competitions time board for this week's selection of comps.

Your two cents

One of the secrets of the success of our MoneySaving community is our team of volunteer Forum Ambassadors who help keep things running smoothly. The Ambassador scheme runs for 12 months at a time, so each year there's an opportunity to join the programme. Applications are now open for 2025-6, so please do consider whether you'd like to be involved.
