Air fryers, odd shoes & heating an historic house – this week's MSE Forum highlights
We've had some unusual consumer rights queries on the MSE Forum this week: like the pair of trainers that turned out not to match one another, and what to do when you order a sofa and only half of it is delivered. Read on for more on these and the rest of the top talking points from our MoneySaving community.

Money Moral Dilemma
Every week, the Money Tips email features a real-life Money Moral Dilemma (MMD for short). They're intended to encourage debate and, as such, they're usually among the most discussed threads each week.
Is it fair to ask my daughter to repay the money I gave her and her ex-husband?
My daughter and son-in-law were heavily in debt 20 years ago. I paid almost £6,000 off one of their credit cards and gave them substantial sums to help elsewhere. They've since divorced and their home is now on the market. I've since found out her ex-husband controlled everything and lived like a playboy. I’m nearing retirement, and that money would be a great help to me - yet they've never tried to repay it. Given that my daughter's been through a hard time, walking out of her home of 28 years with her belongings in bin bags, would it be unreasonable to ask her to pay me back from her share of the house sale proceeds?

Challenge corner
A new month means it's time to check in on the challenge threads where Forumites support one another to hit their MoneySaving goals.
September's Grocery Challenge results are in: Matron_Midge finished at £239.98 against a £400 budget: "Really pleased with that result after a heavy spend August.
"Cupboards, freezer and fridge all well stocked for next week and then will be looking at getting some items towards the festive season.
"Thanks, as always, for running the thread and keeping us accountable. I’ll see you over on the October thread."
In the Frugal Living Challenge, Quantaqa's £476 car insurance renewal became £266 plus cashback after shopping around – and lurkeralongtime's sub-£20 charity shop air fryer helped turn bargain veg boxes into a freezer full of meals.

Latest comping wins
Debsben16 had a nice comping success this week: "I found an email dated 8 September yesterday telling me I was a winner. I assumed that I was too late but replied anyway. They allowed me to still take the prize, very nice of them. So I have a first class afternoon tea for two at Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway to look forward to next year. Thank you to all who post comps."
Our Competitions Time board is the place to look for the latest opportunities to be a winner.
