Money Moral Dilemma

Every week, the Money Tips email features a real-life Money Moral Dilemma (MMD for short). They're intended to encourage debate and, as such, they're usually among the most discussed threads each week.

Is it fair for my mum to include my nephew in her will?

My mum says she wants to include my sister's only child in her will, splitting the inheritance between the three of us. She says my sister's in favour, but as I was unable to have children, I'm not sure how I feel about it. Is it fair?

Challenge corner

We're now half way through 2026, so it's a good time to check in on our annual challenges. In the £2 savers club, Bob2000 has managed to accumulate £252. In the 1p challenge, 1stTimer is working backwards and has hit £550.14 of their £667.95 target for the year. At the other end of the scale, enthusiasticsaver has lived up to their username by hitting 87.5 per cent of their annual target in the save £12k in 2026 challenge.

Your two cents

MSE_Laura_F has launched two callouts for help from Forumites this week. Firstly, we'd like to hear about your hotel rebooking experiences. "I'd love to hear from anyone who has made a saving on their hotel through the 'rebook trick'," she explains. "That means booking a hotel with cancellation included, then if the price drops later on, cancelling for free and rebooking at the lower price. Or perhaps you paid to cancel, but it was worth it because the new price was that much cheaper?"

Secondly, we're keen to hear from anyone who works in a supermarket: "Where you work, is there a best time for yellow sticker food? Is there a lesser-known loyalty card perk you think more people should use? When does your biggest stock-up happen? Any handy insider tricks you're able to send our way?"
