Emily has over six years of experience in journalism, starting her career as a local news reporter in 2018 before joining MSE in May 2021. She has tackled a range of critical topics at MSE, including consumer rights, energy, debt, and financial regulation.

Some of Emily's biggest stories include Ryanair's barring of customers who received Covid refunds, the shutdown of tax rebate firm Tax Credits Ltd for forgery, and discrepancies in the Warm Home Discount scheme. These stories have been covered by some of the UK's biggest newspaper outlets, including the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express, The Sun and The Guardian.

Emily has earned several award wins and nominations, including winning the Rising Star of the Year Award at the Headline Money Awards in 2023 and being shortlisted for the Wincott Foundation's Personal Finance Journalist of the Year Award alongside MSE founder Martin Lewis. In 2022, she also won an MHP's 30Under30 Young Journalist Award in the Personal Finance category.

Outside of journalism, Emily is passionate about writing plays and short fiction, and enjoys hiking, running, and reading.

Vodafone's Voxi brand is to start charging new and existing customers to use their mobiles in Europe. From 27 May, if you're a Voxi customer you'll need to purchase a European roaming pass to make calls, send texts and use data in 49 European countries and destinations.

Around 78,500 QuickQuid and Pounds to Pocket borrowers, who were mis-sold loans they couldn't afford, will receive refunds of some of the interest and fees they were charged at a rate of 53.5p to every pound owed, it's been confirmed. Pay outs are expected to be sent within the next two weeks.

Former customers of the now defunct travel firm Thomas Cook have been urged to submit refund claims for holidays they lost out on when the company went under in 2019. The Government's Official Receiver - which is administering the winding down of Thomas Cook - set-up a claims portal in November 2021, but it says thousands of eligible holidaymakers still need to submit refund requests.

British Gas has doubled the amount of emergency credit available to customers on their gas and electricity prepayment meters from £5 to £10 in the wake of the recent spike in energy prices, although the energy giant previously had one of the lowest limits.
