Emily has over six years of experience in journalism, starting her career as a local news reporter in 2018 before joining MSE in May 2021. She has tackled a range of critical topics at MSE, including consumer rights, energy, debt, and financial regulation.

Some of Emily's biggest stories include Ryanair's barring of customers who received Covid refunds, the shutdown of tax rebate firm Tax Credits Ltd for forgery, and discrepancies in the Warm Home Discount scheme. These stories have been covered by some of the UK's biggest newspaper outlets, including the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express, The Sun and The Guardian.

Emily has earned several award wins and nominations, including winning the Rising Star of the Year Award at the Headline Money Awards in 2023 and being shortlisted for the Wincott Foundation's Personal Finance Journalist of the Year Award alongside MSE founder Martin Lewis. In 2022, she also won an MHP's 30Under30 Young Journalist Award in the Personal Finance category.

Outside of journalism, Emily is passionate about writing plays and short fiction, and enjoys hiking, running, and reading.

Revolut has given 50,000 people a £20 free credit after users of the app experienced delays in making purchases and carrying out transfers during the Black Friday sales. The company told MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) it had identified most people who encountered problems but said those who have not received a payment, but did face difficulties, should get in touch.

Nationwide customers have been unable to transfer money in or out of their bank account since around 7am, leaving some without wages just days before Christmas. The bank says it is trying to resolve the problem, which means there is currently a delay on outbound and inbound faster payments.

Zopa has this week closed all of its 60,000 existing investor accounts. If you're an investor, you'll be able to access your money by 31 January 2022 at the latest. If you're a borrower, nothing is changing and you should carry on with your repayments as normal.

The Government's recommended list of PCR travel test providers continues to include tests for as little as 30p that either don't exist in reality at that price or are only available to a tiny number of people, MoneySavingExpert.com can reveal. It comes amid concerns test providers are offering misleadingly cheap deals to boost their position in the Government's list.

Around 78,500 QuickQuid and Pounds to Pocket borrowers, who were mis-sold loans they couldn't afford, are expected to receive refunds of some of the interest and fees they were charged. But they'll only get back up to half of what they paid - and some will receive less than a third.

Campaigners who launched legal action against Google over claims the tech giant secretly tracked the internet activity of millions of iPhone users have today lost their class action case. If the legal challenge had been successful, millions of iPhone users may have been awarded £750 each. But the Supreme Court's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
