35% off Railcards via Trip.com
Requires purchase of any train ticket to activate the railcard
Update 1.12pm, Friday 28 November: The £1 railcards have been extremely popular and all sold out.
Third-party booking app Trip.com is offering a Black Friday deal of £1 one-year railcards (normally £35) via its app for new Trip.com customers only from midday on Friday 28 November.
There's no code needed but you'll have to be quick, as there are only 600 codes available, and we reckon this'll be popular. To activate the railcard you'll need to buy a train ticket too within 24 hours of purchase.
If you missed out, there's still a way to save....You can get 35% off one-year or three-year railcards with the code: MSERC35 until 11.59pm on Friday 28 November. With the code, this makes it £22.75 for one-year or £52 for three-years. You'll need to purchase a rail ticket on Trip.com within 30 days in order to activate your railcard.
Important: This deal is only valid for newbies to the Trip.com app (you can't redeem it online or if you're an existing customer). With this deal, the railcard can only be accessed via Trip.com's app – you can't transfer it to the official Railcard app after purchasing.
Railcards available include: 16-25, 26-30, Two Together, Network, Family & Friends, Senior and 16-17.
See our Cheap train tickets guide for more ways to save on rail fares.
Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford.

£100 off £500 flights at Trip.com
A big discount, but limited availability
Trip.com has revealed its Black Friday flight deals...
From Friday 28 November lasting until Friday 5 December, Trip.com is offering up to £100 off flights from the UK when you spend £500 or more. You can also get £50 off weekend getaway flights (with a £300 minimum spend), and £30 on shorter trips (with a £100 minimum spend).
Important: There’s a limited quota of 300 vouchers, available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must book via the Trip.com app to get this deal.
How good is this deal? Very good, which is probably why there's limited availability. Trip.com flights already tend to be competitively priced, and 20%-30% discounts off those are not to be sniffed at.
Any other ways to save on trains this Black Friday? Yes, Ryanair is running a 'Cyber Week' sale and Easyjet and Tui have also kicked off their Black Friday sales. More companies are bound to join in on the discounts, so if you miss out on this one, there'll be another round the corner.

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to check you’re genuinely getting the cheapest fare – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
