Commuters travelling on the worst affected routes during May's timetable chaos should receive a discount on next year's travel, a group of MPs has said.
Passengers who are given a penalty fare despite having a genuine reason for not having a valid train ticket will now be able to go to an extra stage of appeal where 'mitigating circumstances' will be considered, the Government has announced.
Commuters on some routes can use a 16-25 Railcard to save up to £700 on a year's train travel, MoneySavingExpert.com can reveal, due to a simple trick which will also work with the new 26-30 Railcard.
