A few of this week's top threads
These are some of the Forum discussions that caught our eye this week:
-
Is there such a thing as a simple TV that would suit an elderly person?
-
How much money do you have left after you've paid your bills?
-
Have you ever used a Secret Fare to save money on your rail travel?
Money Moral Dilemma
Every week, the Money Tips email features a real-life Money Moral Dilemma (MMD for short). They're intended to encourage debate and, as such, they're usually among the most discussed threads each week.
Should I accept rail delay refunds for train tickets my employer paid for?
I travel a lot for work using the train. I arrange the tickets myself and pay for them with my own money, then my employer reimburses me the same day. Sometimes, a couple of days after my journey, I receive a notification from the train-booking app I use, letting me know I'm entitled to claim a full or partial refund as my train was delayed. Is it OK for me to claim and keep the refund when my employer's already reimbursed me for the cost of the tickets?
See what our MSE Forumites had to say and add your own thoughts on the Money Moral Dilemma discussion thread. Do please stick to the MSE Forum rules: keep it kind and keep it clean. Remember, there's a real person behind every dilemma.

Please note: We love seeing your photos in the MSE Forum, but if you're uploading one, make sure it doesn't include any personally-identifiable information such as your face or address.
Challenge corner
A new month is a great time to join one of the Forum's many challenge threads, like the June No Spend Day Challenge. Forumites set themselves a target of avoiding spending on non-essentials on between 10 and 21 days of the month, and track their progress via the Forum.
Latest comping wins
This week's winners include flyingbug who has won a pair of shoes. Check out Competitions Time for the latest opportunities to win.
What happened next?
When someone comes to the Forum with a dilemma, it's always great to hear how things turned out. In 2021 powerspowers posted about giving up their household's second car and swapping it for an e-bike. Four years on, they've posted an update to say they've just sold the e-bike (which successfully eased them into the cycling habit) and now have a new hobby buying and selling bikes and bike parts.
Your two cents
We recently updated our guide to MoneySaving in Florida's theme parks and we'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions so we can make it even better.
