This week on the MSE Forum we heard from a Forumite whose commitment to MoneySaving was such that their unusual shopping patterns caused bewilderment among store staff. Read on for more about that and other highlights.

A few of this week's top threads

Here's a selection of what caught our eye recently:

House number sign '13'

Would you think twice about buying a house if it was number 13?

Money Moral Dilemma

Every week, the Money Tips email features a real-life Money Moral Dilemma (MMD for short). They're intended to encourage debate and, as such, they're usually among the most discussed threads each week.

Should I keep the perks from my grandma's bank account?

My grandma doesn't have a bank account and keeps all her money in cash. Now I've started helping her with her finances, I've set up a bank account in my name and pay her bills from it - she gives me the cash - and I get cashback on the bills and interest on the balance. Each month I transfer money into the account to meet the minimum monthly pay-in, then when I transfer my money back, I also take the interest and cashback too. Is this fair, or should this money go to my grandma? I'm not really sure.

See what our MSE Forumites had to say and add your own thoughts on the Money Moral Dilemma discussion thread. Do please stick to the MSE Forum rules: keep it kind and keep it clean. Remember, there's a real person behind every dilemma.

Photo of the week

Our crafting community is always inspirational. Daisy_1571 this week shared the story of the cuddly toy they've been reviving: "I've been mending a huge toy dog which was coming away at a seam and making him a harness.  It will be useful for something to clip a lead onto so we can tie him to a gazebo pole and keep him upright on a stall.  Hopefully will also stop him wheeking away if the wind gets up (he's used as a mascot).

"It used 2 tiny bits of cloth and a couple of straps, clips and rings I've taken off rucksacks and keyrings etc over the years before the rest got chucked out.  So not a huge dent in my stuff but it didn't cost any new pennies and will be useful to his owners."

Your two cents

Twopenny wants your tips for preserving basil. They'd like a ready supply to have with pasta during the winter months.
