Via unique code for your birthday with newsletter sign-up

If you sign up to the Schuh newsletter*, you can get 20% off full-price items online or in-store for your birthday.

You'll be sent an email with a unique code that you can enter at the checkout online, or if you prefer to go in-store, there'll be a barcode at the bottom of your email that you can scan at the till. The discount is valid for 16 days from the date you receive your email, and it can't be combined with other offers.

Schuh says this offer is 'by invitation only', so you may or may not receive the same birthday offer.

What else does the loyalty club get me?

If you're a new sign-up to the Schuh Club you can get double points on one order within six months of signing up on a spend of up to £500 either online or in-store. See full T&Cs* for Schuh Club offers.

Schuh 'up to 50% off' sale*

Includes branded items such as Nike, Converse and New Balance

If you go online to shoe retailer Schuh*, you can get up to 50% off selected items in its Black Friday sale. You can also get an extra 10% off and £5 off every £50 if you have a student card. Delivery's £3 or free if you're spending over £60. Click & collect in-store is free.

This is a weaker offer compared to last year where it was 'up to 70% off'.

When we checked on Tuesday 26 November, there were over 4,800 shoes in the sale, including brands such as Adidas, Converse, Nike, New Balance, Timberland, and Crocs.

What discounts have we seen?

  • Min discount we saw: 14%

  • Max discount we saw: 51%

  • Typical discount based on 10 random items: 29%

However, some of the shoes we checked were cheaper elsewhere, showing how important it is to always price compare to get the best price.

Here are some good and not so good deals we found:

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Schuh 'up to 75% off' sale*

Across women's, men's and kids'. Not likely to boost further

Shoe retailer Schuh* started its sale in-store and online on 18 December offering 'up to 75% off' – the same as last year. Students can also get an additional 10% off.

Here are a few examples of decent deals we found when we checked on Monday 18 December:

As it's a sale, stock is likely to be limited, so go quick if there's something you're after. Schuh sells branded items, so be sure to check prices at other retailers before buying. Delivery's £3 or free if you're spending over £25. Click & collect in-store is free.

Is Schuh likely to boost the sale discount it offers?

As it's started at a strong discount this year, we wouldn't expect it to boost any further.

What does ‘up to 75% off' mean?

Max discount: 80%
Min discount: 16%
Average discount from 10 random items: 23%

What is the discount based on: The Advertising Standards Agency has previously stated that at least % of items should be available at the 'up to' price.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
