When we checked on Thursday 30 July, all items in the outlet were brand-new, with 5,000+ items on sale. Make sure you always compare prices to ensure you're getting the best deal possible – even when shopping at an outlet.

Discounts on fridges, washing machines & TVs etc

Household appliance retailer AO.com has regular discounts online via its website, but you could also save money on white goods and electricals by visiting its official eBay outlet*.

All items are new and include TVs, washing machines, fridges, cookers, and dishwashers. Everything is sold with the usual manufacturer's guarantee.

New and refurbished kitchen appliances, Lego, TVs & more

Argos runs regular promotions on its website, but it also has an eBay outlet where it offers discounts on Lego, hair appliances, robot vacuums, and more. The outlet is a mixture of box-damaged, new, and refurbished items.

When we checked, there were 1,200+ items in its outlet, but not all will be a bargain. We spotted several items that were cheaper elsewhere. For example, Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle and Grounds Big Set (RRP £149.99) was listed at £135 on its eBay outlet, but it was £121.95 at Amazon.

Discounts on kitchen appliances, video games, TVs & more

Supermarket chain Asda has regular discounts via its website, but you can also save money shopping through its eBay outlet, where it sells kitchen appliances, mobile phones, TVs, video games and more. While there are branded items on its outlet, the best bargains tend to be on its own-brand 'George at Home' items.

When we checked, Asda had 70+ items listed on its eBay outlet page. Items are either ‘like-new', 'refurbished', or 'box-damaged'. During our spot checks, we only spotted items that were box-damaged, meaning they’d never been used.

Postage is free, and you can return items up to 30 days from the purchase date. Items sold on the Asda outlet have a free one-year guarantee.

Up to 50% off adult & kids' shoes

Distinctive shoe brand Crocs* offers a good mix of adult and kids' shoes on its outlet. What's more, sometimes there are extra multi-buy discounts available on top of clearance prices.

New and refurbished kitchen appliances, mobile phones, TVs & more

Electronics retailer Currys runs regular sales on its website, but it also has an eBay clearance outlet with TVs, Lego, kitchen appliances, mobile phones, iPads and more. The outlet is a mixture of box-damaged, new, and refurbished items.

When we checked, Currys had 4,000+ items listed on its eBay outlet page. Not all items were cheapest though – for example, it was selling a pistachio-coloured Kitchen Aid for £366.44 (was £549), but we found it 44p cheaper for £366 at Amazon.

Up to 75% off furniture

Dunelm has six in-store outlets in the following locations: Birmingham, Bradford (West Yorkshire), Rochdale (Greater Manchester), Beckton (London), Ilkeston (Derbyshire), and Fenton (Staffordshire).

MSE Hope visited the Birmingham Highgate store in July, where discounts ranged from 30% to 75% (the typical discount was about 50%). Items included sofas, chairs, mattresses, mirrors, and more.

The condition of each item is clearly labelled, ranging from ‘great condition’ to ‘not so great condition’. If your nearest outlet is still a fair jaunt away, each one has a Facebook page where members of staff will often list when stock is due to arrive in store, and occasionally, what that stock might be.

New & refurbished vacuum cleaners, heaters & fans

Dyson products are rarely the cheapest, but if you're going to buy Dyson anyway, it's worth checking the Dyson eBay outlet* for a bargain. As well as brand-new items, it also sells refurbished and ex-display vacuums, heaters, and fans at reduced prices.

Of course, you should still compare prices elsewhere to ensure you're getting the best possible deal.

30+ outlets across the UK

Bakery chain Greggs has 30+ in-store outlets (find your nearest) across the UK where you can shop for day-old discounted bakes, sausage rolls, baguettes, and more.

MSE Hope visited the Birmingham Highgate store in July. Here are some of the items she spotted:

• Cold baguettes for £1.50 (normally £1.85 to £4.15, depending on the filling)

• Two veggie bakes for £1.75 (normally £4.80 for two)

• Flatbreads for £1.50 (normally £3)

• Pizza slice for 75p (normally £2.75)

Even though Hope spotted discounts of up to 72% off, she wouldn’t recommend going out your way to go to an outlet store, as you may end up spending more on transport costs than the discount you’re getting.

Discounts on furniture and white goods

If you go online to the John Lewis outlet, you can get up to 30% off a small range of homeware items, including sofas, chairs, washing machines, and more.

The selection is usually limited. When we checked on Monday 10 August, there were 49 items in the outlet. Items are described as ‘like new’ which John Lewis says means they are "good-as-new quality". Outlet products have the same return policy as brand-new stock.

Discounts on handbags, suitcases & accessories

Popular bag brand Kipling offers discounts on a range of handbags, suitcases, accessories and more at its official web outlet.

Even after the discount, the prices remain high, so exercise MoneySaving caution.

When we checked on Friday 7 August, there were 500+ items in the online outlet.

Up to 70% off shoes, bags & accessories

Posh footwear brand Kurt Geiger isn't known for running regular discounts in its stores. However, by shopping online in its Shoeaholics outlet you can often save 'up to 70%' versus the normal high street price of its shoes, handbags and accessories. Interestingly, when we checked on Friday 7 August, we noticed several items were discounted by 80% compared to its normal price.

What does 'up to 70% off' mean?

Discounts on kitchen utensils, appliances, homeware & more

It's rare to find Lakeland discount codes or vouchers unless you sign up to its membership (myLakeland), but you may still be able to cut costs by shopping at the official Lakeland outlet* on eBay.

We've spotted some items with discounts of up to 50% off, however all outlet items we checked were price-matched on the regular Lakeland website.

Worryingly, we spotted several outlet items that were cheaper at other retailers, including Amazon. For example, when we checked on Friday 7 August, the Lakeland extendable ceiling airer was listed for £39.99 at the eBay outlet, but was £34.99 at Amazon*.

30% off perfumes, body lotions, and more

If you go online to the Molton Brown outlet, you can get 30% off its perfumes, body lotions, and more. Outlet products are not included in Molton Brown's promotional offers, but UK standard delivery is free.

Discounts on clothing, shoes and sporting goods, but we've spotted items cheaper elsewhere

If you go online to the Mountain Warehouse eBay outlet*, you can get discounts on clothing, shoes and sporting goods. However, we worryingly spotted several items that were much cheaper elsewhere, including on the regular Mountain Warehouse website.

For example, when we checked on Monday 10 August, the Mountain Warehouse Zenith II Men's Rain Coat (RRP £249.99) is listed as £99.99 on the eBay outlet, compared to £74.99 on its official website.

It's not just high-ticket items that are cheaper on the Mountain Warehouse website – a children's dinosaur-themed bucket hat cost £11.99 via the outlet, but was £3.99 on the official site.

New and refurbished 

Ninja products are rarely the cheapest, but if you're going to buy Ninja anyway, it's worth checking the Ninja eBay outlet* for a bargain. As well as brand-new items, it also sells refurbished air fryers, multi-cookers and blenders at reduced prices.

When we did our spot checks on Friday 7 August, there were 130 items on sale on the outlet. Of course, you should still compare prices elsewhere to ensure you're getting the best possible deal.

Up to 50% off branded shoes, such as New Balance and Adidas

With a collection of both its own and branded shoes, Office Offcuts has 'up to 50% off' big brands such as New Balance, Adidas, Birkenstock, Converse, and more. Delivery is £5.99.

When we did our spot checks on Friday 7 August, Office Offcuts had an additional 20% discount on items, which was applied at checkout.

Discounts on outdoor clothing, bags & accessories

The outlet arm of outdoor and sports brand Regatta sells its gear with discounts of up to 80% off original store prices. Regatta Rewards members (it's free to join) can get an additional discount on top of outlet prices.

When we checked on Friday 7 August, there were a good range of items in the outlet, including jackets, hats, swimming costumes, and other accessories.

What does 'up to 75% off' mean?

Discounts across men, women's, and children's fashion

If you go online to the Reiss outlet, you can get discounts across men, women's, and children's fashion. Home delivery costs £5.95, but store collection is free.

Discounts on ex-display shoes. We spotted 94% off Nike trainers

You can grab a bargain from aptly named shoe retailer Schuh, if you have a look at its ex-display stock. When we checked, there were hundreds of ex-display shoes in various sizes and brands, including Nike, Timberland, Dr Martens, Birkenstock and Ugg.

Important. Items are ex-display, which means they are likely to have imperfections, so make sure to read the descriptions before ordering. When we did our spot checks on Thursday 30 July, shoes were described as discoloured in most cases and damaged in others.

Stock of each shoe will be very limited (often just one), and not all sizes will be available, so what's in stock can change extremely quickly – we've noticed items get snapped up within hours, including the pink Nike trainers.

• Nike Pink Multi field general trainers – £4.99, were £90. Next cheapest brand-new, £39.99 at Schuh (currently out of stock)

• Schuh Pale Pink lambert ballerina flats – £4.99, were £45. Next cheapest brand-new, £45 at Next

• Jeffery Campbell Tan Lita Platforms – £18.99, were £154. Next cheapest brand-new, £61.99 at Schuh

• Dr Martens Buzz Hi in Khaki – £64.99, were £190. Next cheapest brand-new, £89.99 at TK Maxx

Shark products are rarely the cheapest, but if you're going to buy Shark anyway, it's worth checking the Shark eBay outlet* for a bargain. As well as brand-new items, it also sells refurbished vacuums, hairdryers, and hair stylers at reduced prices.

When we did our spot checks on Friday 7 August, there were 100+ items on sale in the outlet. You should still compare prices elsewhere to ensure you're getting the best possible deal.

Up to 75% off men's and women's clothes

Superdry's official eBay outlet* offers discounts on men's and women's clothes.

We spotted some items with discounts of up to 70% off, but worryingly, we saw several items that were cheaper on the regular Superdry website.

For example, when we checked on Monday 10 August, the Sequin Suikajan Jacket is listed as £79.99 on the eBay outlet, compared to £69.99 on the Superdry official website.

We've spotted items cheaper elsewhere

Retailer Sports Direct* has an eBay outlet with over 9,000+ items on sale. Despite calling itself an outlet, when we checked on Monday 10 August, none of the items we saw were discounted. Worryingly, we spotted several items that were much cheaper on the regular Sports Direct website, which has its own outlet page – we've seen discounts here ranging from 25% to 79%.

For example, the Karrimor Mens Mount Low Walking Shoes were listed for £89.99 on eBay (the RRP), compared to £44.99 on its regular website.

Discounts on homeware, electricals & toys

If you go online to Tesco's eBay outlet*, you can get discounts on a range of items such as phones, TVs, homeware, electricals and more. It sells both new items and customer returns – all refurbished items are clearly marked.

When we checked on Monday 10 August, there were 250+ items listed on the eBay outlet. We spotted some outlet items were price-matched at other retailers, including Amazon. Make sure you always compare prices to ensure you're getting the best deal possible – even when shopping at an outlet.

Unfortunately, you can't collect Clubcard points via the Tesco outlet.

Discounts on end-of-line items

Outdoor clothing brand The North Face has an outlet section on its website where it sells discounted backpacks, jackets, fleeces, and active wear.

When we checked on Thursday 30 July all items in the outlet were brand-new. Items appeared to be discounted because they were end-of-line.

Examples we spotted:

• The North Face Yumiori off peak ½ zip fleece jacket in grey – £69.95, was £115. Next cheapest, £97.75 at Asos

• The North Face cropped T-shirt in black – £19.60, was £28. Next cheapest, £31.99 at Asos

If you go online to the Yankee Candle outlet, you can bag yourself discounted candles. When we checked on Friday 7 August, there were only two items in the outlet – both with a 25% discount. At other times of the year, we've noticed a wider range of items available.
